Well my Grandma worked there and she use to make that recipe to put over our ice cream on hot summer days. The Recipe and others were handed down to me and here it is. Enjoy!"

Great Grandpa's Rum Cake

entercircleb writes, "This Rum Cake recipe has been a favorite of my family's for 6 generations. (from great grandpa to my grandchildren) It has been modified to use cake mixes to cut down on preparation time, but those who have had the original, (including great grandpa) can not tell the difference. My family and friends have enjoyed this cake at Christmas time over the years and it is one of the deserts the everyone looks forward to. You can serve this cake the same day that you cook it, but it is best if you wrap it aluminum foil and age it for 1 week in the refrigerator. (everything gets better with age) You can also freeze it after wrapping in foil. (Beats me why any one would want to!) Be careful if you do not drink, this recipe has been known to cause some to become a little tipsy after eating, but they consumed almost a whole cake by themselves. No! You can not have the original! That's a guarded family secret."
